Softcat to double tech ranks to buttress growth push
Fast-growing reseller hunts consultants and tech experts to fill newly opened NOC
Softcat is to double its number of technical staff over the next 12 months to support its continued growth and burgeoning services business.
The Marlow-based VAR wants to add 40 new heads during the next year in consultancy and technical support positions. The firm is on the hunt for staff with skills in storage, virtualisation, networking, security and Microsoft.
Many of the new faces will be based at Softcat's opened network operations centre (pictured), which is the hub of the reseller's managed services business.
Sam Routledge, solutions director at Softcat, told ChannelWeb that the extra heads were needed to support a recent raft of contract wins.
"Our professional services and managed services teams are incredibly busy right now. We have been able to cross-pollinate between the two but both teams are now close to saturation point, because we have been fortunate enough to win some good business," he explained.
"We have done the hard work and spent the last six or seven years putting the groundwork in to build a professional and managed services business. I hope that [this recruitment] presages a massive upswing in this area of our business."
The VAR has been on a growth spurt in recent times, with revenue more than doubling in the past two years. In its fiscal year which closed at the end of July, Softcat posted sales of £308m. This has grown from the FY10 figure of £146m.
