Carney picked as new ringmaster of Brocade fairground

Former Xsigo and Micromuse top dog Lloyd Carney picked as successor to departing CEO Michael Klayko

Brocade has unveiled former Xsigo and Micromuse leader Lloyd Carney as its new chief executive, five months after predecessor Michael Klayko's resignation.

Carney arrives from a role as CEO of Xsigo, and before his time at the I/O virtualisation specialist the 50-year-old executive held the same post at Micromuse. During a near-30-year career he has also served as chief operating officer at Juniper Networks and held high-level posts at Bay Networks and, subsequently, Nortel.

"I believe Brocade is poised to leverage its heritage of strong innovation and significantly disrupt the status quo in the data networking industry," said Carney (pictured). "There are profound changes happening across high tech today and Brocade has a great opportunity to lead that transformation through differentiated products and customer focus."

Carney replaces Michael Klayko, who announced in August that he would be resigning his post once a successor had been found. Klayko has been in the hot seat since 2005 and Brocade board chairman David House saluted his contribution.

"During his tenure, Brocade gained market leadership in storage networking and Ethernet fabrics while delivering a robust, end-to-end portfolio of networking products. We wish Mike well in his future endeavours," said House.
