VMware gives TIG cloudy thumbs up
Managed service provider bags vCloud Powered badge
Managed service provider The Internet Group (TIG) is on a mid-market charge after its new cloud platform achieved VMware's stamp of approval.
The TIGCloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform has bagged the VMware vCloud Powered badge, the highest level VMware accreditation for multi-tenant cloud. It will provide cloudy back-up and recovery services.
TIG, which operates two datacentres in Birmingham and London, was the subject of a management buyout in January by a quartet of channel veterans.
TIG group COO Adam Maurice stressed that VMware had rigorously tested the platform to ensure it works in a structured way, adding that only a small handful of other UK partners hold the vCloud Powered accreditation.
"We have built an enterprise platform that VMware has tested and validated," added TIG chief executive Des Lekerman.
Lekerman said the platform would enable TIG to deliver hybrid cloud services, a vision also being pushed by VMware as it allows customers to choose to deploy workloads in the best location based on security, performance and scalability needs.
"Customers want less of the commoditised cloud services and more of a consultative approach," Lekerman added.
