£30m Traffic Scotland IT deal given green light

Five IT suppliers sought for five-year public sector deal

Traffic Scotland is on the hunt for five IT suppliers to manage its operations over the next five years.

The public sector body requires a range of software, internet services and systems-analysis kit as part of the contract, which will last for 51 months and be worth between £24m and £30m.

"The Traffic Scotland Systems contract includes the support, maintenance, development and warranty of the software, computer hardware and systems that deliver the Traffic Scotland service," Traffic Scotland said in a recently published tender document.

"The contractor will be required to provide supporting services, including the supply of both, bespoke and commercial off-the-shelf hardware, software, systems, CCTV, internet-protocol communications infrastructure and traffic detection equipment."

Suppliers will be awarded a place on the framework based mainly on the price they offer, but quality will also be a consideration.

On top of this, potential providers must meet a range of technical criteria.

"[They must have] experience of working on specified types of projects over a specified value [and] demonstrate the use of quality, environmental, health and safety, information security and software-development management systems," Traffic Scotland added.
