European Electronique lands £15m of higher-education business

Oxfordshire-based HPE Platinum partner snares deals with succession of universities including University of Edinburgh, UCL and University of Newcastle

European Electronique says it has landed over £15m of business with universities and colleges this year.

Facing declining budgets in its core schools market, the Oxfordshire-based HPE Aruba and Fortinet partner has moved in recent years to bolster its wider public sector business, with higher-education emerging as a fruitful stomping ground.

This year the firm claims to have snared networking infrastructure and cyber security deals totalling over £15m with universities and colleges including the University of Edinburgh, UCL, University of Newcastle, Birkbeck College and Canterbury Christchurch University.

Declining budgets and less demand for complex technology in the under-18s market prompted European Electronique to deploy its engineers mainly on projects in other sectors in its year to 31 March 2019, the firm said.

Revenues for the period rose one per cent to £50.8m.

"Over the past few years we have made substantial investments to ensure that we can deliver the right technology solutions required by today's universities and students," said European Electronique solution director Graham Fox.

Yolanta Gill, CEO, European Electronique (pictured), added: "Our goal for 2020 is to continue strengthening our position as one of the leading systems integrators, delivering secure technology platforms including, hybrid IT, cyber security and networking infrastructure. To achieve this we have been making substantial investments in professional services' staff training and recruitment to ensure that we have the most experienced and knowledgeable engineers in the industry. We are focussed on the continual growth of support services for the solutions we provide including fully managed services, 24/7 coverage and NOC."
