Sun appoints new CEO
Industry giant makes changes at the top
Sun has today appointed Jonathan Schwartz as chief executive officer. He was previously president and chief operating officer at Sun. Scott McNealy, formerly the chief executive and chairman will continue as Sun chairman and takes on the additional title of chairman of Sun Federal, where he will focus on the vendor’s key US government customers.
Schwartz has been with Sun since 1996, when it acquired Lighthouse Design, where he was chief executive. Since then, Swartz has focused on Sun’s open source and standard setting policies.
McNealy said in a statement: "Jonathan has earned the admiration and respect of our 37,900 employees, our customers and partners, and the industry as a whole. He is the ideal leader to take the helm as Sun's chief executive officer."
