HDS and Acer renew SME alliance

The vendors are pooling their resources to take on the SME market

HDS is lending its support to Acer's expansion plans

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is continuing its support of Acer’s SME expansion plans by granting the PC vendor access to its portfolio of mid-range storage products.

The move, HDS claimed, will enable Acer to offer “enterprise-grade products at an SME price point” and enable both vendors to “reinforce their presence in key markets.”

It follows on from an earlier agreement made three years ago between the vendors to work together on targeting SMEs.

Mike Walkey, senior vice president of global channels at HDS, said: “As a trusted, strategic storage partner of Acer, we look forward to our continued partnership as we continue expanding the reach of our modular and SMB storage solutions in our key global markets.”

Gianluca Degliesposti, vice president of global server business development within EMEA at Acer, said the allegiance would provide “clear advantages for companies with IT infrastructure looking for reliability, performance and scalability."
