Game comes back to Liverpool for Xmas

Consumers in Liverpool can look forward to more software this Christmas with Game returning to the city eight months after selling up, and HMV doubling the size of the games section in its store.

Game re-opens in Liverpool on 15 November. It sold its last shop there after receiving an offer it said it couldn't refuse.

Operation's director Paul Lloyd-Roach said: "We've been looking for a new site ever since we came out of Liverpool. We were beaten a couple of times on other locations."

The 1,800 sq ft store will be in the Clayton Square shopping centre which already houses a Virgin Megastore. HMV's store is just a few metres away and has introduced a large gaming section designed along the lines of its flagship Oxford Street store. The games section in HMV's Manchester branch has enjoyed an expansion and facelift.

Game has refitted its Thurrock branch which was one of the first eight stores it opened.
