Ingram fixes warehouse problems

Distributor Ingram Micro claims that it has now resolved the teething troubles experienced at its new warehouse in Northamptonshire.

The company's main warehouse was previously in Milton Keynes, but it transferred its entire warehouse operation to Daventry in July.

But because of troubles with new software, temporary staff and moving huge amounts of stock - some orders were delayed for up to 24 hours - problems were still being experienced two weeks ago.

Tony Price, managing director of online reseller WStore, admitted that his company had experienced some problems with Ingram, its main supplier, but that the service had quickly returned to normal.

"We did have some problems about two weeks ago when some deliveries did not go out on time and were delayed 24 hours," he said. "But we were in constant touch with Ingram during that week, and everything seems back to normal."

Phil O'Connor, director of operations at Ingram, admitted that some customers had been affected by late deliveries.

The scale of the move was bound to incur some problems, but the move began in July and the new premises were fully operational in September, she said. "We can't expect a move on this scale to be seamless. Moving such a large operation, in terms of equipment, staff and new facilities, is no easy feat."

However, despite the minor problems, Ingram did not lose business days, and most customers were not aware of the move, she said.

Separately, WStore has received a capital investment of six million euros from technology venture capital companies Newventuretec and Ventech.
