Misco hunts for virtual account managers
Reseller to expand its virtual team as it looks to tap into surplus of skilled labour
Reseller Misco is on the lookout for experienced sales staff to become ‘virtual account managers’.
The Wellingborough-based online VAR plans to expand its virtual team to double figures this year as it looks to tap into the surplus of skilled IT sales staff currently on the bench.
The home workers are provided with access to email, client account information, product information and internal management systems. Their productivity is monitored by IT systems using detailed management reports and call recordings. They will also remain in constant contact with colleagues via the phone, instant messaging or web cam.
Misco said the move has enabled it to access a greater catchment area of experienced employees and would give those it takes on a good work-life balance.
“A happy workforce has the knock-on effect of providing higher customer service standards, and absenteeism in home workers is generally low due to the nature of the working environment,” the firm said.
Mark Brooks has joined Misco as a ‘virtual premier account manager’ after company insolvencies and buyouts caused him to lose his job three times in the last year.
Brooks admitted dedication and commitment were essential to the role, knowing that his Xbox and the Jeremy Kyle Show were waiting downstairs.
“This can be a real easy escape when you’re having a bad month,” he said. “The only other main quality required is great communication skills, which are not only essential to carrying out the task but also to ensuring you keep in touch with your work colleagues and supervisors.”
