SNS' storage move pays off

Distributor Magirus and vendor EMC help London reseller make move into new technologies

Superstore: SNS has grown unified storage revenues fourfold over the past year

VAR SNS has hailed Magirus after the distributor's help allowed it to branch into the storage arena.

The London-based reseller had been a virtualisation practice, but recently looked to move towards unified storage technology and turned to Magirus and vendor EMC for help. The distributor drew up a two-year marketing plan for SNS and brought in EMC techies to help offer in-depth technological training.

SNS director Mark Burgess said: “Magirus has been invaluable in helping us to expand from virtualisation into storage, working with us on business development and sales pipeline plans through to marketing to drive demand. This has seen our revenues for unified storage rocket by 300 per cent during the past 12 months.”

Chris Gould, UK and Ireland area manager for mid-market, partners and systems integrators at EMC said: “Where Magirus really adds value is in its consultative approach, supporting partners to deliver storage solutions with a tangible return on investment. "

Magirus' fiscal year closed on 31 March and the distributor claims it enjoyed a hugely successful year in the unified storage space. UK sales grew by upwards of 10 per cent, according to Magirus, fuelled by strong sales of SAN technology.

Denise Bryant, UK managing director at Magirus, said unified storage, built around Cisco, VMware and EMC technologies, would remain a key focus in FY11.

“We see significant opportunities for partners over the next 12 months to provide future-proofed, datacentre technologies, supporting their customers on the journey to cloud computing," she said.

"A key element of this will be unified storage, as well as hot applications, such as deduplication, where EMC’s Avamar and Data Domain solutions come to the fore.”
