Atempo partners with Esteem to drive sales

New partner to take on backup offering to increase the vendor's presence in public sector and education

Continuous data protection (CDP) vendor Atempo has secured another UK partner in the form of reseller Esteem systems.
Becoming part of Atempo’s Select Partner programme, Esteem will offer Atempo Live Backup, which provides remote deployment, bare metal restore and de-duplication for laptops and workstations.

Matthias Hintenaus, managing director for northern and central Europe at Atempo, said that increasing numbers of businesses have employees working from home with unprotected data.

“When an end user works from home, their data is outside the datacentre and is unprotected ­ we protect that data.
“The Atempo Live Backup is not training intensive because partners do not always want to waste time and money learning about complex solutions. We are offering one-day training at the moment and some do not even need that.”

Hintenaus said Atempo’s offering will be well received by Esteem’s public sector customers.
“The public sector, education in particular, is becoming increasingly popular for CDP as it is essential that data is protected here.”

Laurent Fanichet, EMEA communications director at Atempo, said: “Depending on the profile of the customer, Esteem can also offer the licensing needed for laptops and further build on services around that.”

Atempo bought data protection vendor Storactive in March 2006 and email archiving company Lighthouse Global Technologies in February this year. “We have more UK partners in the pipeline, which are more around our archiving offering. We are being careful not to flood the market, because under no circumstances do we want our partners to compete,” added Fanichet.

Alastair Kitching, chief operating officer of Esteem, said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance and differentiate our portfolio.

“Our ultimate goal is to drive our services turnover and with Atempo we can achieve this. Public sector business is very hot at the moment ­ Atempo’s offering is not exclusive to this sector, but it fits well there.”
