AMCC will launch UK VAR programme in Q3
Expanding storage components vendor embarks on UK reseller recruitment drive
Storage components vendor AMCC will roll out its first UK partner programme in the third quarter this year and is on a reseller recruitment drive.
The vendor, which was called 3Ware until it was acquired by AMCC three years ago, conducts 90 per cent of its business through the channel, according to Barbara Murphy, vice president of storage products at AMCC.
“We have lots of OEM relationships too,” she said. “But sometimes the channel is better at finding opportunities than our OEM partners. We want our premium partners to have a more direct relationship with us. As part of this growth, VARs expect us to have a partner programme.”
Murphy added that the programme will provide more support, training and services for partners.
AMCC is looking to recruit about 10 UK premium partners, according to Ron MacLeod, sales director EMEA at AMCC. He said it is unlikely the programme will be tiered.
“We have lots of small partners as well as more premium partners, but we want to create differentiating services for our premium partners and get more partners on board before we look at tiering the scheme,” he said.
Murphy said the vendor focused on the US market, but this year it hired a European salesforce and signed four European distributors: Hammer, Bell Micro, Avnet and TMC.
Paul Hickingbotham, solutions manager at Hammer, said: “The fact that AMCC is looking to provide more support to loyal partners is good for the channel. This is likely to be a selective scheme, which also makes it more valuable to partners.”
