Red Hat lauds EMEA partner conference

Vendor claims attendance at event in Malta was up 40 per cent on last year

Open-source giant Red Hat has hailed its recent EMEA Partner Summit a success, with a "record" number of attendees.

The three-day event, held in Malta, offered delegates product and strategy updates, technical workshops and networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities. According to Red Hat, the summit saw a 40 per cent increase in delegates compared to 2008, with attendees travelling from 38 countries across EMEA.

Topics covered included Red Hat’s virtualisation technology road map, and chief executive Jim Whitehurst addressed partners with a keynote called The Open Source Opportunity, sharing his vision of how the open-source model is meeting the IT demands of today.

Petra Heinrich, director of partners and alliances, EMEA at Red Hat, said: “The power of open source and Red Hat’s momentum is evident in our growing partner ecosystem. This annual event is an opportunity for Red Hat’s partner community to share and collaborate best practices across the region.”

Red Hat is holding its next EMEA Partner Summit next spring.
