Andy Zollo, UK country manager for the ebusiness networking division at Alcatel, told Computer Reseller News: "Formal certification was achieved when Memorex met our technical and business standards."

Accreditation was gained by Memorex engineers successfully carrying out a series of technical tests, while business certification was gained after company representatives met Alcatel business planners.

"Memorex has been the most successful reseller partner I have seen and we engage at all levels," said Zollo. "Resellers are very protective of their customers, but Memorex wanted to take us in with them in other areas. This showed they were not trying to hold anything back, which is a good quality for a reseller partner. The companies have become mutually profitable businesses and even share accounts."

Peter Gatling, managing director at Memorex, said: "The advantages of being a partner with Alcatel are co-operative funding, the preferential level of discounts and access to both data and voice products."

Alcatel's support for channel partners includes financial rewards for reaching targets, direct access to technical support and co-funded marketing plans. "We are always looking for good channel partners in new areas, with the intention of going out and making lots of money together," said Zollo.
