Esteem helps law firm avoid Olympics disruption
VAR rolls out Citrix remote access solution for Bird & Bird
An international law firm has called in VAR Esteem Systems to help it implement a remote access solution ahead of London 2012.
Bird & Bird, which has 23 global offices including 450 staff in London, is rolling out a Citrix Netscaler solution to give employees access to its core systems via the internet.
The solution, which is based on five physical and four virtual Citrix Netscalers, will be up and running at its London office in time for the Games, with global deployment pencilled in for September.
Although fast-tracked for the Olympics, the project had much broader aims, said Esteem sales and marketing director Alastair Kitching.
"The ways in which people work are changing," he added. "Employees want to work from anywhere at any time. Companies need to embrace this and implement a solution, such as this one, that provides flexibility to their employees, and better meets the demands of their clients."
Jon Spencer, infrastructure manager at Bird & Bird, said adopting a centralised management approach would allow his firm to gain control of its IT and react more quickly to staff and client requirements.
"Instead of each office looking after its own terminal server for remote access, we will have a centralised environment where entry points are reduced, consequently reducing our hardware and support requirements," he said.
