Ingram and Hammer out in CA distribution rejig

CMS Distribution steps in, joining Arrow in CA's distie line-up

A distribution shake-up at CA has seen the software vendor appoint CMS Distribution and part ways with Ingram Micro and Hammer, according to sources.

Hammer confirmed its relationship with the software giant will finish at the end of this month while CRN understands Ingram Micro is also on its way out.

This will leave CA with just Arrow ECS and CMS, which was granted access to CA's ArcServe portfolio on 1 April after its Irish agreement was extended to include the UK.

CMS managing director Frank Salmon predicted the partnership would suit both parties.

"CMS has demonstrated very good growth, especially in the software [segment] over the past number of years," he told CRN. "CA was keen to achieve its own growth targets and CMS is a very successful business, especially in the software sector."

Hammer's managing director James Ward said his company's stronger ties with Dell made a relationship with CA - which was forged only 18 months ago - incompatible.

"It had become clear to us that CA's strategy would no longer align with Hammer's strategy moving forward, so the decision has been made to part company with them at the end of April," he said.

"Hammer has an increasing strategic partnership with Dell, and an existing comprehensive data protection portfolio, which means our companies are unfortunately no longer compatible. We wish CA luck in the future."

Ingram Micro declined to comment, while CA could not be reached at the time of publication.
