Fears mounting over thin-client distributor TDist

Getech says it has stepped in to take over several of TDist's vendor contracts

Concerns are growing over the fate of desktop virtualisation distributor TDist after its switchboard stopped working.

Wiltshire-based TDist lists on its website zero- and thin-client technology from vendors including Acer, NCS, Alto, Praim and ViewSonic, as well as components from Teradici and AMD.

Multiple sources have expressed fears the distributor has hit the wall, while its switchboard has not worked in the ten days CRN has been trying to contact it.

The EMEA thin client market has endured a tough time in recent months, with IDC noting that shipment volumes hit a five-year low in Q2 2015.

Guy Watts, managing director of thin-client distributor Getech, said that a number of resellers have moved their business over to his firm in recent weeks.

"We have taken over a number of the distribution contracts they had," he said. "We picked up a level of business on a couple of product sets that we have taken from them. This is for NCS Technologies, with ultra-secure PCoIP laptops, and Teradici, for video cards for PCoIP environments.

"We were already selling the products but a number of resellers phoned us to say ‘we were having trouble getting hold of TDist, can you help us'?"

Attempts by CRN to reach Steve Hawes and Dave Nicoll the two directors listed in TDist's last accounts, via email and Linkedin, were unsuccessful.

According to its abbreviated accounts for the 12 months ending 30 June 2014, TDist's current assets stood at £96,436, down from £165,749 a year earlier.
