Vectra signs Cloud Distribution in UK launch

US security player targeting between seven and nine UK partners with Cloud Distribution partnership

Cloud Distribution has inked a deal with cybersecurity vendor Vectra Networks as the US player launches in the UK.

Founded in 2012, Vectra monitors internal traffic using software to detect in-process cyberattacks that are inside companies, and provides feedback to customers about the threat.

Last year Vectra landed in EMEA following $25m (£16.5m) series C funding from Axel Partners. Last week Gerard Bauer, Vectra's vice president of EMEA, told Channelnomics Europe the firm is on the cusp of some more funding and indicated the company is targeting an IPO in the long run.

Adam Davison, product and marketing director at Cloud Distribution, said Vectra fills a market gap which partners have been asking for.

"There is a key opportunity for partners between defence and remediation solutions, with what's happening in the middle," he said. "There are only a couple of people doing this at the moment – Vectra is one of them – and partners are all saying there is a need for this right now.

"From our perspective we do a lot of due diligence, and they did on us, and I think it's a perfect fit. We look for disruptive, new and exciting vendors that we can take to our partner base to complement [our portfolio] and add incremental revenues and I think Vectra is a perfect fit for that."

Davison also said Vectra will work well for partners running a secure operations centre (SOC) as a managed service for customers.

Cloud Distribution, which becomes Vectra's first UK distributor, is targeting between seven and nine resellers with this partnership, according to Davison. He said these partners must be the right fit and ready to invest in the technology.

Bauer said Cloud understands how to take disruptive technology to market.

"They have a lot of ability to train and give partners new technology support and education," he said.

Davison said that following the deal, resellers will be provided with the usual support, including sales cards and campaign marketing material.
