Andrew Henderson
Managing director, Lanway
What was the worst job you have ever had?
A paper round, especially in winter. The pay was not good, and the bag was very heavy - especially on a Sunday.
Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life?
Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy; it would be hilarious.
What do you do as your party trick?
Scientists at NASA believe that the tongue and its taste buds have muscle memory, just like the muscles in the rest of your body. The tongue can remember tastes if you carry out a specific action and think of the taste. The punchline is something to do with a salt shaker. It's great to video the victim and pop onto social media.
What is your favourite chocolate bar?
Dairy Crunch.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
Becoming managing director when the company was not performing at its best, then creating a vision, empowering the team and getting back into growth. We have grown from £12m to £16m to £21m over the last three years and there are bigger things to come.
Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?
It's been great so far; the recent ProfileIT acquisition is bedded in, and we are starting to execute some great ideas for our cloud business.
How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?
Fun, Incestuous, surprising (at times), addictive.
Aside from the channel, my dream career would be... a musician. I'm expecting big things from my current band (www.rollermusic.co.uk).
What major issues will the channel face in 2015?
Consolidation in the cloud space has got to happen; further widescale understanding for a lot of resellers of how to monetise and make profit from their cloud business is a challenge for most and will continue to be so. And finally creating a cure for the obligatory post-Channel Awards hangover - it's a challenge I face every year.
