Mike Chambers
Managing director, Comparex UK
What was the worst job you have ever had?
Working in a meat packing factory. Lots of blood and bones all over the place – I still to this day wonder if it really was beef, as labelled.
Which actor would you pick to play you in a movie of your life?
Jordan Belfort. I’d like to see how he would have done it.
What do you do as your party trick?
Recounting tales from the channel, and how I got lost in the building of MI6 while looking for the IT department.
What is your favourite chocolate bar?
Double Decker. No exciting reason – I just love them.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
Winning the Government Framework. Always wanted it, now we’ve got it.
Has 2014 been a good, bad or ugly year?
A good year for the majority of the channel, but with a few hiccups. The channel needs to change, and realise cloud is no longer on the periphery – this is the world now.
How would you explain the IT channel to a stranger without boring them to death?
We used to buy and sell bits of paper for millions of pounds (licences), but the cost of sale was too high, so now we just email them.
Aside from the channel, my dream career would be… job sharing with Hank Moody.
What major issues will the channel face in 2015?
Getting with the programme, from a cloud perspective.
