Each year after the Channel Awards are launched, many people look at the deadline and relax, thinking, quite rightly, that they have weeks left to think about what they are going to submit.
And every year, without fail, the deadline creeps up unexpectedly, and those same people go into panic mode as they realise they have just a few days left.
That time of year has come around again, and there are just a few hours left to get your awards entry submitted. The deadline of 5pm TODAY is almost upon us. Submit your entry HERE.
Some may still be thinking "Why should I bother", and you can see our answers to that in this article entitled ‘Five Reasons to Enter the Channel Awards'.
As with every year, the categories have been carefully tweaked and some changed to reflect the demands of the industry and to show that CRN does listen to feedback. For example, Storage Distributor of the Year and Networking/Comms Distributor of the Year have re-emerged on the scene after they were both retired. It is up to YOU to keep them in next year's mix by entering.
Some categories will always be more heavily entered than others, but if we do not receive enough entries to a particular category - then that category will not return next year and something else will take its place. No category is safe from scrutiny and they will happily be retired again if the enthusiasm is not there.
Indeed, if a category does not get enough entries to form a decent shortlist, then that will be withdrawn with immediate effect. We know this is unfortunate for any company that has made the effort, but we are not a fan of a one-horse race.
We also have a voted-for category again this year in the form of Channel Chief of the Year, and it is definitely hotting up nicely. If you are a vendor that is proud of their channel record, then you really do need to encourage your partners to put your channel chief forward.
Our brand NEW category this year is PSA/RMM Vendor of the Year - the market is big enough to warrant opening up a competition in this space and giving the players a platform to shine in their own right. But again, if it is not entered, it will not be making an appearance next year.
Every category has detailed criteria which will help to craft an entry. Please do read these and take note - they are there to help you and give you an idea of what the judges are looking for. See more tips on how to write an entry in this article.
Please keep your entries UK based, and do not submit more than one entry per category. Remember to stick to the word count and the time limit for videos. The judges will be watching.
