Distribution heavyweight has promoted long-serving executive Mark Glasspool to a role as director of consumer electronics.
Glasspool will assume responsibility for overseeing a team of 10 people, as well as vendor partnerships with the likes of Phillips, Samsung and Sony. He is tasked with making additions to the division's manufacturer kitbag, as well as increasing the breadth of its customer base. He will also retain the responsibilities of his current role as director of strategic opportunities.
He said: "[This] sector is dynamic and fast-moving and one in which we can leverage the credibility of Tech Data has in terms of excellence in logistics management and fulfilment, and the strong relationships we have with major electronics brands to significantly expand our presence in the consumer electronics market."
Glasspool has been with the distributor for more than 13 years and has previously held posts as a senior group manager within Tech Data's European operations and as general manager of its PC business in the UK and Ireland.
