Keith Humphreys: Butcher will need hit the acquisition trail to hit targets

Damovo’s new managing director is looking to bolster the integrator’s sales team to help double the firm’s turnover over the next three years.

Paul Butcher was appointed earlier this month and replaced Nick Dean, who spent two years in the job. Butcher was recruited by Damovo chief executive Mike Parton and the two are former Marconi executives.

Butcher told CRN: “I have seen a number of areas where there is potential. The plan is to evaluate whether those are real opportunities for us and to put the resources we have into going after them.”

Butcher revealed Tony Coppinger had recently been appointed as his company’s sales director and two new sales managers were also soon to be added. His goal is to double the company’s revenue of £80m over the next three years.

“I have a track record in growing businesses,” he said. “We have a great portfolio of solutions and need to be a lot more positive in communicating that to people.”

Keith Humphreys, managing consultant for analyst EuroLAN, claimed Butcher would have to hit the acquisition trail to achieve his turnover targets, but added: “I like Damovo’s platforms. It used the Ericsson installed base as a cash cow and has brought in Microsoft and Cisco on top of that.”
