Mammoth NHS hardware framework worth £500m up for grabs

Desktops, laptops and tablets among IT kit required for NHS Shares Business Services framework

A public sector IT framework worth up to £500m is up for grabs, with suppliers sought to provide bodies with a range of hardware such as laptops and desktops.

The NHS Shared Business Services and North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC) published a tender notice giving details about the massive framework.

The NOE CPC is a membership group which aims to provide cost-effective products and services for its members by achieving economies of scale.

"The framework will be for the benefit of all public sector bodies, including any statutory and other successor organisations to any of the foregoing, and in addition any other commissioners, providers and regulators of NHS-funded services," said the tender. "[This] includes practice-based commissioning consortia, general practice commissioning consortia, NHS England, and all sub-national offices including any body obtaining new membership to NHS Shared Business Services."

According to the tender document, the framework, which will be worth up to £500m, is split into 10 lots: Lot 1, Desktops - £100m; Lot 2, Laptops - £100m; Lot 3, Tablets - £50m; Lot 4, Healthcare IT - £50m; Lot 5, Clinical Monitors - £25m; Lot 6, Green IT - £10m; Lot 7, Printers and Scanners - £25m; Lot 8, Deployment Services, £20m; Lot 9, Third-party Warranty, £20m; and Lot 10, One-stop shop - £100m.

The final lot will provide "a selection of IT hardware and services" including at least four of the categories of the other lots.
