Mark Hatton

Managing director, Sphinx

Career so far I have been managing director of Sphinx since 1999. Prior to this I held a number of different positions in a variety of IT companies.

Do you care about green IT? Not really - I suspect the only people who ‘care' about green IT are those making (or saving) money from it. Frankly I find most organisations' politically correct attempts to portray themselves as ‘green' as transparent and laughable.

If you could be in a rock/pop band, which one would it be and who would you be? I would be the drummer for the Pussycat Dolls - think of the view!

What is the best corporate jolly you have ever been on/taken partners on? Over the years Sphinx has run numerous trips for partners as part of "The Trail". Destinations have included the Great Barrier Reef, Thailand, Egypt, the Amazon rainforest and South Africa. All were unbelievable experiences enjoyed by all who were there.

Has 2009 been as bad as everyone said it would be? We have been pleasantly surprised that 2009 was not as bad as predicted. That said, some sectors have performed better than others - we found the IT security market to be particularly resilient, driven in large part by compliance and regulatory mandates.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? No - they never do.

What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2010? I suspect that 2010 may be a little tougher for the IT sector than 2009 was - so our biggest challenge will be ensuring expectations are appropriate.

What is the best part of your day? I enjoy all meal times equally.
