Freecom eyes B2B market
Portable storage device vendor wants channel to help it move beyond its consumer stronghold
Portable storage device vendor Freecom is targeting success in the commercial sector after opening its first UK office and appointing a new channel manager.
The company has historically sold external hard drives into the consumer market. It will be unveiling a series of devices aimed at the private and public sector this quarter.
Its UK office has opened in Hampshire and David Pye has been appointed as UK channel manager, working with national account manager Tim Stevenson. The vendor has also added to its distribution line-up of Northamber and CCI Distribution by signing Computers Unlimited to work with Apple resellers.
Pye claimed he would be targeting medium-sized resellers and larger integrators. “We have conquered the consumer market and want to replicate that in the B2B space,” he said.
“We have always had presence with B2B resellers such as Misco and Insight, but have not had the portfolio of products for that market.”
Pye claimed VARs would benefit from an impressive line-up of support and training, and could make healthy margins. “Getting into the commercial sector will be down to individuals like me working with resellers to get out to end users with marketing activity,” said Pye.
