Perkins out as Nimans sales chief
Ex-Ingram man on the move after seven months as Richard Carter take on expanded role
Pastures new: James Perkins is moving on after less than a year as Nimans' sales boss
Nimans sales director James Perkins has departed the firm after just seven months, with the recently returned Richard Carter stepping into the role.
Perkins joined the Mancunian firm in April from outsourcing specialist Qcom. The departing sales chief also spent 12 years at Ingram Micro, where he ascended to the role of sales director.
One month after Perkins' arrival, Carter returned to Nimans after a five-year gap. Carter spent the interregnum serving as managing director of rival Rocom, which Nimans bought last year.
Carter, who began a 20-year stint at Nimans in 1986, returned to the Salford-based firm in May as business development director. The group sales director job has now been added to his responsibilities.
"I've been back here around six months and feel the time is right for me to play a more frontline sales role, driving the business further forward," said Carter. "There are some very experienced and knowledgeable people in place, who I'm looking forward to working with. It's just like old times."
Nimans chairman Julian Niman stressed the importance of Carter's knowledge and experience.
"We have some major long-term plans going forward as we look to significantly expand our revenue streams," he explained. "There are very few people who know this company and industry as well as Richard. Together with the other board members, he is the ideal person to help us reach our goals."
