Dan Laws
Managing director, Kelway
Career so far
It has been pretty much Kelway only for me.
What was your first job and were you any good at it?
My first job was working for Tiny Computers in its Sunderland branch. Despite the location it was a decent role albeit sometimes we seemed to be more focussed on selling warranties than PCs.
Who was your top teenage pin-up?
Er... Alan Shearer.
My colleagues won't know this about me but...
I was once head chorister at Newcastle Cathedral.
What is your favourite snack?
Anything from Greggs.
What has been your career high point to date?
It would have to be Kelway's two CRN Reseller of the Year awards. Particularly the first one where half the room had never heard of us.
Has 2013 been good, bad or ugly?
It's been solid for Kelway. We are exceeding our growth expectations on the back of an economy that finally seems to be turning.
What do you say when asked at a party what you do for a living?
I work in the IT industry.
If I wasn't working in the channel I would probably be...
Working on my golf handicap.
What will be the channel's biggest challenge in 2014?
Continuing to manage the evolving ways in which our clients want to purchase and consume technology.
